    The Department of International Trade Promotion (DITP), Ministry of Commerce, is promoting the quality of Thai restaurants in overseas markets with the \u201cThai Select\u201d logo, a logo of quality that will raise international awareness and recognition of Thai food while also driving Thai restaurants overseas and food manufacturers to step up and maintain exceptional Thai tastes and quality for a global audience under the government\u2019s \u201cKitchen of the World\u201d policy.<\/p>\n

    Thai food has long been known all over the world. Today, there are over 15,000 Thai restaurants worldwide, delivering unique Thai flavors to the delight of people across the globe. There are now 1,557 overseas Thai restaurants being recognised by the\u00a0 \u201cThai Select\u201d project, in which there are 26 ones in Hong Kong including\u00a0Apinara, Cafe Siam, Greyhound, Mango Tree and more. This Thai Select mark shall be awarded to the Thai restaurants for diners to identify and discover places serving authentic Thai food and tastes.<\/p>\n

    In awarding the Thai Select mark, the DITP considers 6 key criteria regarding taste, quality, service, and atmosphere and decoration.<\/p>\n

    1. Located outside Thailand.<\/li>\n
    2. Menu must also contain at least 60% of Thai dishes.<\/li>\n
    3. Ingredients directly imported from Thailand.<\/li>\n
    4. Chefs must be Thai with certifications recognized by the Thai culinary authorities.<\/li>\n
    5. Interior design in authentic Thai style in the restaurant.<\/li>\n
    6. Registered and operating in Hong Kong for at least 6-month with all\u00a0culinary certificates obtained in Hong Kong.
